Impact of Sponsorship
Formerly known as the Lions District 201N3 Diabetes Foundation, the Foundation was constituted by a resolution of the 1992 District 201N3 Convention, is governed by a Trust Deed and supported by Lions, Lioness and Leos clubs from every District in Australia.
The principal aims of the Foundation are to fund research into the causes and treatment of diabetes, raise awareness, and provide education to improve care and support for people who have diabetes or are at risk of developing the condition.
This foundation has generously sponsored a PhD thesis dedicated to the physical activity lifestyle module within the DAP+. This research aims to systematically review and synthesise evidence on physical activity interventions in primary care settings. Additionally, it seeks to explore the barriers and facilitators of implementation strategies for these interventions, focusing on the uptake of the Ecofit physical activity program among adult patients diagnosed with type II diabetes.
The PhD thesis will also evaluate implementation outcomes of the Ecofit program, such as its reach, uptake, and effectiveness, for both primary care clinicians and patients with type II diabetes.
